About Chiropractic
Discovered by D.D. Palmer in 1895, "Chiropractic is a philosophy, science and art of things natural; a system of adjusting the segments of the spinal column for the correction of the cause of dis-ease."
This definition has served the chiropractic profession ably and honorably for over 100 years. In order to further your understanding of what it means and how chiropractic applies to the everyday life of you and your family, I offer the following:
The Four Pillars of Chiropractic
1) The body is a self healing organism. If you cut your finger, it heals. If you cut the finger of a corpse, it doesn't. It is Life itself that heals.
2) The nervous system is the master system of the body. There is nothing you experience as a human being that is not processed through the nervous system.
3) When there is interference with the nervous system, not only does it have an adverse affect on health, but because that interference distorts your perception of the world and compromises your ability to respond to the world, it can lead to psycho-emotional problems as well. And when this happens to a significant number of people in a society, it has a detrimental effect on the society as a whole.
4) It is the purpose of the chiropractor to locate and correct the cause of that interference.
